General Assistance Case Worker
The City of Sanford is accepting applications for a Full-Time Case Worker with our General Assistance Department.
This is a highly responsible administrative and technical position involved in determining the eligibility of applicants for the General Assistance program and referral to other services offered within the community.
Employee of this class is in frequent contact with the general public and must exercise tact and discernment in those contacts. Work involves various typing, recordkeeping and bookkeeping assignments. Work is performed under the general supervision of the General Assistance Director, subject to review through observation, results obtained and methods used. Work is of a highly confidential nature.
High School Graduate or GED Certificate required, supplemented by courses in bookkeeping and business subjects. Experience in a Social Service Agency and keeping and recording of financial transactions highly desirable. Customer service required. Previous municipal office experience desirable. Any equivalent combination of experience and training considered in lieu of the above.
