PARKS MAINTENANCE WORKER – PARKS DEPARTMENT
Are you ready for a hands-on, outdoor role that makes a real difference in our community? The City of Sanford is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Parks Maintenance Worker to help create and maintain beautiful, safe, and vibrant public spaces. This fun and rewarding position plays a vital role in keeping our parks, athletic fields, city facilities, and trails in top condition while decorating our city for every season.
This position handles the grounds maintenance and athletic fields where you will mow, trim, and edge lawns; care for flowerbeds and landscaped areas. You will be fertilizing, reseeding, and top-dressing all city parks, fields and ball fields. An important part of this position is the repair and maintenance of all city facilities, building and ball fields along with operating equipment such as dump trucks, tractors, lawn mowers, and hauling equipment and trailers as needed.
You will work closely with a dedicated team to support community events and keep our city looking its best. Enjoy decorating the city for all seasons, adding festive and creative touches to public spaces. This position will assist with maintenance at Oakdale Cemetery, move furniture and equipment to support facility operations and special events, and remove rubbish from parks, playgrounds and facilities.
The successful applicant is required to be available nights, holidays, and weekends as determined by the needs of the City during inclement weather and emergency situations. Applicants must possess a high school diploma. Experience in the operation of moderately heavy-to-heavy equipment is required. Applicants must have and maintain a valid State of Maine Class II/B CDL operator’s license. Applicants must also possess a clean driving record.
