The City of Sanford is seeking a motivated and experienced professional to join the Sanford Police Department as our Professional Development and Property Manager. This is an exciting full-time salaried opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our department’s operations, compliance, and mission to serve the community with excellence. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
As a vital member of our leadership team, you will be at the forefront of driving professional standards, managing critical accreditation processes, and overseeing evidence and property systems with a sharp focus on compliance and quality. This position offers the chance to work closely with dedicated officers and command staff in maintaining and enhancing departmental integrity through thoughtful policy development and continuous improvement.
You’ll lead efforts to ensure compliance with standards set by the Maine Criminal Justice Academy Board of Trustees, CJIS Security Policy, the Maine Bureau of Labor, and the Maine Department of Corrections Short-Term Detention Area standards. Your work will include interpreting evolving standards, leading internal inspections, authoring policy, and providing strategic recommendations to keep the department aligned with the Maine Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (MLEAP).

Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working in a law enforcement environment is required.
- Familiarity with PowerDMS, MLEAP standards, Bureau of Labor compliance, CJIS, and MDOC auditing is highly desirable.
