The City of South Portland is seeking a Full Time (37.5 hours per week) Building Maintenance Custodian to work throughout facilities at the City.

The Building Maintenance Custodian performs a variety of custodial tasks including emptying trash, cleaning restrooms, vacuuming, cleaning floors, washing windows, and moving furniture as needed.  In addition, shoveling & snow removal, and perform minor semi-skilled interior maintenance and repairs such as painting, floor refinishing and covering, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, and other unskilled or semi-skilled trades work. 

Applicants must be high school graduates or equivalent; and have the ability to move and operate cleaning equipment, climb stairs, bend, stoop and lift or move up to 50 lbs. Prior experience preferred but not required; we will train the right person.

Starting hourly pay range effective July 1, 2024 is $20.37 - $23.23 based on qualifications and experience.  The position is eligible for annual step increases, and possible annual cost of living increases as approved by the City Council.
