The City of South Portland is currently seeking a 37.5 hour a week, (4-day work week) full-time Sustainability Program Manager to join our Sustainability Department. Position Summary: The Sustainability Program Manager works closely with the Sustainability Director to develop and implement programs and policies that simultaneously promote economic well-being, strong community connections, and a healthy environment. The primary focus of the Sustainability Office is to implement One Climate Future initiatives that help South Portland meet aggressive carbon reduction goals and build community resilience. To achieve these goals, we focus on buildings and energy use, transportation and land use, waste reduction, and climate resilience. In all of our work the Sustainability Office proactively centers equity, diversity, and inclusion in programming, policies, and community engagement initiatives.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, the sciences, public policy, planning, English, engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience: One to four years’ experience in program development, and/or program management required. 

Other: Must have flexibility to attend meetings, programs or other needs on evenings and weekends.

Salary Range: $29.26 – $33.35/hour ($57,057-$65,032 annually) depending on experience.  This position is eligible for annual step increases, and possible annual cost of living increases as approved by the City Council.
