The City of South Portland is currently seeking a 37.5 hour a week (four-day workweek) full-time Tax Clerk - Cashier to join our Finance Department. This is an opportunity to join a well-run city and play a part in serving our community with further opportunities for professional growth.
Position Summary: The Tax Clerk - Cashier is responsible for performing cashiering functions and other duties related to the collection and processing payments for property taxes, vehicle registrations, receivables, citation tickets and other receipts to the City. The work involves direct customer service with the public. The work environment is similar to a customer service lobby.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required; 2 years of higher education or equivalent preferred.
Experience: At least two (2) years of experience in cashiering and direct customer service. Experience with Tyler or other municipal software and/or experience with motor vehicle registrations is a plus.

Salary Range: $21.92 – $24.96/hour ($42,774-$48,672 annually) depending on experience. This position is eligible for annual step increases, and possible annual cost of living increases as approved by the City Council.
