This position serves as a director level position and a member of the senior management team responsible for the delivery and strategic oversight of Human Resources at MMA. Additionally, this position provides professional and technical consultation to municipalities in the areas of human resources management including labor relations, employee relations, executive recruitment, performance management, and other related areas of human resource management. The role involves being hands on in the development and implementation of HR strategies and policies to align with overall business objectives. Work is carried out with considerable independence, answering directly to the Association's Executive Director. This position requires extensive travel throughout the State of Maine as well as participating in evening meetings.
The successful candidate will have considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of public Human Resource administration with particular emphasis on labor relations and executive level employment recruitment. Must possess strong leadership ability, outstanding communication, and interpersonal skills. A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or Human Resource Management is required along with five plus years of progressively responsible experience in human resources management. Professional Certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP HRCI-PHR preferred.
