Status: Full-Time, Supervisory position
Schedule: Evening & Night hours, 40+ hours per week
Grade: 5 [$27.73 - $32.84 /hour] Depending on experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have a high school diploma, or equivalent, with five (5) years related experience in equipment mechanics, maintenance and repair; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Qualified candidates must have excellent communication, computer and office skills; display attention to detail and be able to work in a team environment.
WORK ACTIVITIES: Oversees, directs and undertakes the overhaul, repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel automotive vehicles, trucks, tractors, street sweepers, cranes and other power-driven equipment. Manages tasks, job assignments, training and supervision of second shift operations. Repairs parts, tools and equipment and performs machining, welding and limited fabrication. Maintains and enforces safety rules and regulations to keep a safe, clean and orderly shop. Prepares work reports, work orders, and equipment records for labor, parts used and services performed. Maintains warrantees and applies for reimbursement as needed. Displays knowledge of fleet maintenance software, meters, heavy equipment testing and power tools used in repair and service work. Communicates necessary information between shifts to aide in clear and consistent shop knowledge and practices. Perform other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS: Qualified candidates must have a valid Maine Class B driver’s license in good standing, or be able to obtain within six (6) months of employment. Must possess a valid State of Maine Vehicle Inspection license and be able to obtain any/all appropriate A.S.E. certifications.
