The Goodwins Mills Fire Rescue serves the communities of Lyman and Dayton. The combined year-round population of 6,400 residents can swell to 10,000 in the summer months. The department covers an area of 59 square miles and handles over 1000 calls per year. The station is staffed 24/7 by 1 full-time Firefighter/AEMT or Paramedic per shift whose partner(s) is hired on a per diem basis. The Fire Chief is full-time and at the station during regular business hours. We host two live-in SMCC students. Our call force strength is over 40 members.
The Goodwin’s Mills Fire-Rescue is accepting applications for full-time Firefighter/AEMT. We currently anticipate one full-time vacancy and hope to add one additional in July. Upon successfully completing the process, those not selected for employment may remain on a hiring list for one year.
Applicants must hold a current Maine EMS license, Paramedic preferred, AEMT desired, and EMT-B will be considered. A high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, Emergency Vehicle Operators Course, and a Maine BLS Certified Firefighter.
All candidates must complete a criminal background check, pass a physical agility test (physician’s clearance required), and participate in an interview process. If selected without an AEMT license or higher, or a Firefighter II Certification the hiree must obtain said license and or certification within a timeframe established by the conditional offer of employment.

● Hourly rate is based on qualifications, expected starting range of $19.10 - 26.87/hour
