Job Description:

The City of Bath is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Foreperson with the Public Works Department. The Foreperson performs complex supervisory, administrative and technical work for the department, including managing staff and projects related to sewers, streets, equipment maintenance, solid waste and recycling, snow removal, and other related services.

Bath has steadily gained national recognition as an ideal location to live, work, and play. Unique traits include its long tidal shoreline, historic infrastructure, state roads including Route 1, and its small footprint's mix of urban, rural, and commercial areas. The City's Public Works Department is responsible for streets and sidewalks, sewer and storm water systems, the landfill, and a water pollution control facility with pumping stations. The Public Works Department has approximately 28 employees.

The ideal candidate is motivated by ensuring efficient and effective public service, while maintaining a safe, positive work environment. They have considerable knowledge in municipal public works functions, including project management, fleet management and maintaining public infrastructure. A qualified candidate has a diploma, GED, or equivalent plus four years of experience in public works or a closely related field. Supervisory experience is preferred.

The position is non-union, and a B09 on the City’s salary scale. Starting salary range is $64,300-74,000 depending on experience. The City offers MPERS and excellent health and wellness benefits.
