We are currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Customer Service Clerk in the Town Clerk’s Office. This position is responsible for processing motor vehicle and boat registrations, accepting tax payments, issuing various licenses and certified copies of records, and other responsibilities as assigned by the Town Clerk.
The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to deliver exceptional customer service to a diverse customer base. Must be a team player with the ability to display a high level of respect and professionalism in the workplace at all times. Must be able to prioritize tasks and perform highly detailed work under pressure with frequent interruptions.
The position is scheduled for 38 hours per week. Additional hours may be required at certain times of the year, such as election time.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma, or equivalent, required. A minimum of one year’s prior experience in customer service, cash handling, and computer use required. Previous municipal and/or government office experience a plus. Any equivalent combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: The Town of Gorham offers a comprehensive package of pay, benefits, and paid time off to eligible employees. The Town currently pays 90% of the premium cost for all health insurance coverage levels and provides a generous Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) to help cover the cost of out-of-pocket medical expenses, such as deductible and coinsurance. Individuals covered by an alternative health plan are eligible for an annual medical buyout in lieu of coverage (currently $2,250 - $5,048 based on coverage eligibility). In addition to a choice between two excellent health insurance plans and paid vacation, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays per year, employees have access to dental, vision, medical and dependent care Flexible Spending Accounts, life insurance, short-term disability, IRAs, tuition reimbursement, and more. Salary range for Grade 1 positions begins at $20.24/hour and is dependent upon experience and qualifications.
