The Bar Harbor & Mount Desert Police Department is accepting applications for one (1) Full Time Patrol Officer to fill an existing vacancy within the department.   This is a Town of Mount Desert position. This full-service community offers an excellent wage and benefit package which includes paid vacations and holidays, family health insurance, retirement and uniforms. The starting salary for this position after successful completion of the probationary period is anticipated to be $64,126 annually.

Minimum requirements include:  Must be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license, meet physical fitness requirements as established by the Maine Criminal Justice Academy, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, ability to operate modern computers and software programs used within the department and must meet good moral character standards and be a U.S. citizen.  Final candidates will be subject to a thorough background investigation as well as polygraph, psychological and medical examinations.
