Are you ready to make a difference on the front lines of Sanford’s infrastructure? The Sanford Public Work’s Department is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Truck Operator to join our Highway Division. If you enjoy hands-on work, operating powerful machinery, and taking pride in maintaining the roads and infrastructure of our city, this is the role for you! As an Heavy Duty Truck Operator, you’ll be responsible for operating a variety of light to heavy-duty equipment and performing manual labor as part of seasonal projects. This role also involves operating dump trucks equipped with snow plows and sanding equipment, helping keep our roads clear and safe during Maine’s winter storms. You’ll be working from heights and handling tasks that require precision and expertise in the operation of trucks, particularly in demanding weather conditions. Emergency response is required and you must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed, particularly during storms or emergencies. Applicants must have (or obtain) and maintain a valid State of Maine Class II/B CDL operator’s license. A non-fault accident-free record for the past 18 months, with no moving citations in the past 12 months is required.
All applicants for positions requiring a CDL are required to pass a drug test as a prerequisite of employment and must also successfully pass a background check to the satisfaction of the City.
