Heavy Equipment Operator

Landfill

The City of Bath is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to maintain the City’s Landfill. This job is part of a team responsible for meeting environmental regulations and managing solid waste through the maintenance, testing and operations of the Landfill. If you enjoy being outside, working with a variety of equipment, and interacting with the public, this job might be for you.

Daily tasks involve screening waste and advising haulers of proper disposal, placing and covering waste, and keeping slopes at proper ratios and elevations. You are involved in snowplowing and snow removal on public streets in winter months. The ideal candidate is skilled in the safe operation of large equipment, has knowledge of materials and procedures used in managing solid waste, and can work from construction specifications or blueprints. You are adept at working independently and with others, including the public. A valid State of Maine CDL and operator’s license are required.

This position is part of the Public Works Union and has a starting wage of $24.83. Generous benefits include paid time off, sick time, enrollment in the MEPERS retirement plan, wellness programs, and optional health, dental, and disability insurances.
