SUMMARY: The Lewiston Public Library is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Lending Services Librarian. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Circulation/Lending Services Division and is a member of the library’s leadership and management team.

WORK ACTIVITIES:  Supervise Lending Services (circulation) and provide personnel management to all employees within that division, including staffing schedules. Oversee inter-library lending and outreach services to homebound members. Maintain thorough understanding of programs and services offered by all library divisions. Represent the City and the Library at community meetings locally and at the state level. Coordinate with other divisions to develop public displays. Assist with keeping Library webpage information updated. Oversee patron database, train staff to properly maintain information. Assist borrowers in selecting materials and answer questions from patrons about library services and resources. Conduct tours and explain services and policies to groups and individuals. Assist in establishing and enforcing library policies and procedures, and effectively maintain proper behavior of patrons. Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A master’s degree in library and information science and one (1) to three (3) years related experience is strongly preferred, but equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. The ideal candidate would be an individual comfortable working as part of a team, but able to work independently with minimal supervision and strong time management and delegation skills. Other qualities and skills desired include proficiency with library technologies, including familiarity with MINERVA library consortium rules and Sierra Integrated Library System; strong attention to detail and effective written and verbal communication skills.

SCHEDULE: This is an exempt, full time position, requiring 37.5 hours weekly. Some evening and Saturday work required.  The Lewiston Public Library is open Mon-Thurs 9:30am-7:00pm; Friday and Saturday 9:30am-1:00pm.
