The Town of Kennebunk’s Public Services Department has an opening for a full-time Maintenance Worker/Truck Driver in the Highway Division. This position holds a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and is responsible for the safe operation of light and heavy equipment in the performance of: snow maintenance and removal; and the repair, maintenance, and construction of roads, sidewalks, parks, bridges, and facilities.
The Maintenance Worker/Truck Driver works in adverse weather conditions in sometimes-stressful situations. During winter and emergency events, the Maintenance Worker/Truck Driver is expected to work long hours that includes holidays and weekends. Employment is conditional based on the successful completion of a pre-employment physical and a drug and alcohol screening. As a CDL holder, the Maintenance Worker/Truck Driver is subject to random drug and alcohol testing as described in the Town of Kennebunk Drug and Alcohol Testing policy.
Position Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required;
- Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or the ability to acquire a CDL within a time period determined by the Public Services Director is required;
- Experience operating light (1 ton) and moderately heavy (5 ton) trucks;
- Experience operating a loader, skid steer, backhoe, and forklift;
- Experience performing snow and ice removal operations with a wing preferred; or
- Any equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, abilities, and work experience may be considered.
Pay & Benefits
This is a full-time, non-exempt, union position with a starting hourly wage of $24.97/hour as prescribed by the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.
