ABOUT THE ROLE: The Town of Salem, NH is seeking qualified applications for the position of Director of Municipal Services. This is a full-time position requiring a high degree of general and specific public works knowledge, self-motivation, and ability to work within a complex town environment with big-community infrastructure.
ACCOUNTABILITY: This position reports directly to the Town Manager.

The Director of Municipal Services is responsible for planning and directing all the functions and activities of the Municipal Services Department.
Performs supervisory and complex administrative work in planning and directing all the functions and activities of the Public Works Department. DPW Divisions include Highway; Facilities; Fleet Maintenance; Parks and Forestry; Cemetery, including crematory operations; Water; Engineering; Facility Maintenance; Safety; and DPW Administration.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:
• Bachelor’s degree in public and/or business administration, engineering or related field from an accredited college or university.
• Licensure as a professional engineer.
• Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in municipal government in the areas of administration, public works, or related field with at least five years management experience.
• Experience must include development and implementation of strategic long-range plans, operations, and capital improvement budgeting, developing goals, evaluating performance, and holding others accountable for results.
• Extensive knowledge of best practices in the delivery and management of public works services.
• Extensive knowledge of leadership practices including the ability to supervise, motivate and inspire others.

$46.50/week for 2-person coverage.

Employee pays: $12.40/ week for family coverage.
$5.43/ week for family coverage.
$0.00/week for single coverage.
If an employee already has qualifying insurance, the Town will pay $5,000 annually to waive coverage.
Disability Insurance: 70% of base wages for up to 26 weeks.
Life Insurance: Equal to base annual earnings.
New Hampshire Retirement System Group I: Defined benefit pension plan.
