The Ogunquit Sewer District is seeking a dynamic and collaborative municipal management professional to serve as Superintendent. Ogunquit is a small, coastal community with a year-round population of 1,200 people that expands to more than 40,000 seasonal residents and visitors during the summer season. Ogunquit has a thriving business community with many commercial establishments particularly in the hospitality industry. Reporting to the three-member Board of Trustees, this position manages the day-to-day operations and administration of this District with five full time and one part time employees and an annual operating budget of two million dollars.
The successful candidate will be an experienced, visionary leader with exceptional management, organizational, and interpersonal skills and must have a demonstrated record of ethical leadership that creates a cohesive work environment garnering the confidence and respect of the employees and the community. The Superintendent must have excellent internal and external communication skills, be results driven, and foster a work environment that promotes employee involvement and accountability.
In addition, the candidate must meet the following educational and experience requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering, business management, biological science, hydrology, chemistry, environmental or industrial technology, or environmental science
- Seven (7) years of experience in management, administration, construction, installation, or operation and maintenance of sewer collection systems, or other wastewater facilities, plus four (4) years of supervisory experience
- Possess a valid Grade 3 State of Maine Wastewater operator’s license or the ability to obtain within a period not to exceed one year; or possess a valid Professional Engineer’s license
- Current valid State of Maine Class C driver’s license with a clean driving record
