The Town of Thomaston Recreation Department seeks qualified candidates for a part-time year-round Recreation Department Seasonal Grounds Assistant.

The Assistant performs regular and directed grounds and landscape maintenance during the summer by mowing fields with riding or push mowers; trimming and edging around trees, shrubs, ground cover, and buildings; sports field setup and maintenance; utilizing proper hand or power tools and equipment. May require some minor repair work that includes carpentry and painting of outbuildings and related structures. Other tasks include maintaining, mowing, and lining the soccer field in the fall. Further, the Assistant is responsible for the scoreboard, scorebook, refereeing, setup, and cleanup of basketball gyms.

The successful candidate must possess the following:

· Knowledge of sports field maintenance preferred.

· Possess a valid Driver’s License.

· Successfully complete a background check.
