Part-Time Transfer Station Attendant

The Town of South Berwick is looking for a part-time employee to work at the Transfer Station up to 27 hours. The Transfer Station currently operates on Wednesdays 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.
This position maintains Transfer Station areas and assists the public in the disposal of rubbish and recyclable materials. Attendants regularly operate a baler, compactor, hand and power tools, light trucks, and heavy equipment.
Successful candidates for this position must be at least 18 years old, have own transportation, be dependable, able to lift up to 50 lbs., work independently, and have the ability to get along with co-workers and the public in a professional and courteous manner. Most of the work is performed outdoors, and employees may be exposed to weather extremes and inclement weather.
Requirements:
High School education. Working knowledge of Transfer Station operations, proper handling and disposal of hazardous waste is helpful. Skilled in operating Transfer Station equipment with the ability to do so for long periods of time.
