The Town of Bar Harbor is seeking a motivated, self-starter for the position of Personnel/Business Manager. This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, in person position located in Bar Harbor, Maine.

Primary duties will include the administration of the town’s health insurance program, property insurance program, and employee benefits programs.  The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a close working relationship with all department heads on labor relation issues, including annual reviews, recruitments, and employee retention related matters. 

This position is also responsible for the drafting, reviewing and administration/management of Town contracts and grant programs.    

Additional duties and expectations include providing support and management of a town-wide safety training programs. 

A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, or closely related field with five years of comparable experience is desired, a combination of education and experience will be considered. 

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated the ability to work independently and as part of a management team.  Preference will be giving to applicants who have experience and knowledge researching, developing, and drafting, public policies and/or municipal ordinances as this may be required from time to time.
