Probate Clerk II (Part-time)
Pay Rate: $27.00/hour Job Relationship: Responsible to: Register and Deputy Register; Manner of review: Through direct observation of activities.
Employee Type / Expected Work Hours:
This is a part-time position, 29.5 hours per week.
Job Summary: This position reports directly to the Register of Probate and encompasses a variety of clerical support activities related to managing the responsibilities of the Probate Court.
Essential Job Functions:
- Reviews hearing files for completeness and accuracy.
- Point-of-contact for formal matters regarding scheduling and status.
- Prepares formal notice forms for Register/Deputy or assigns responsibility of notice to the appropriate parties.
- Prepares relevant case mailing packets for court-appointed GALS/Visitors/Attorneys.
- Provides hearing support (i.e. setting up hearings, flexible coverage of the office on hearing days, etc.)
- Prepares audio transcripts for Court and Interested Parties.
- Performs other work as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Education and training: high school graduate or equivalent with strong attention to detail, aptitude for learning and retaining information including legal terms, statutes, and computer programs. Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
- Proven customer service skills: the ability to speak calmly and clearly with the general public.
- Familiarity with office procedures and operation of office equipment. Good organizational practices.
- Ability and confidence to work as the only person in the office on occasion.
- Understanding and respect for the rules of confidentiality.
