The Town of Lisbon Public Works Department has an opening for an experienced Automotive Foreman. 

The Automotive Foreman is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and evaluating uniform practices and
policies relating to automotive and heavy equipment service and repair. Additionally, the Automotive Foreman leads the work of a mechanic, oversees fleet management, and develops and maintains a comprehensive maintenance program for the town fleet.

Desired Knowledge Skills and Requirements Include:

  • Current possession of a Maine State Class “A” CDL.

  • Maine State Inspection license Class A, D and Trailers, (if you do not have one you will be required to get this within the first 6 months of employment and we will send you to this training.) 

  • Thorough knowledge of the practices, methods, tools, parts, and materials used in the maintenance and repair of automotive, construction, and related equipment.

  • Thorough knowledge of the operating principles of gasoline and diesel engines and of mechanical components of automotive, construction, and related equipment.

  • Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of equipment work.

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of automotive repair shop management.

  • Thorough knowledge of the practices, methods, and tools of the welding trade.

  • Ability to demonstrate leadership traits and principles.

  • Ability to write specifications for the purchase of new equipment for the Town.

  • Ability to organize garage facilities and personnel to meet fluctuating and unusual demands.

  • Ability to work long hours under duress.

  • Ability to plan and supervise the work in a manner conducive to full productivity and morale.

  • Ability to remain flexible in establishing priorities during the repair of equipment.

  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with superiors, Town Officials, co-workers, and the general public.

  • Ability to work long hours in adverse weather and under adverse working conditions.

  • Skilled in the use and proper care of tools and equipment in the automotive trade.

 

Normal Schedule in the spring/summer/ early fall is Monday-Thursday 6am-4:30pm.  Late fall and winter schedule is Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm, unless you are needed for a snowstorm or repair emergency.

The pay range for this position starts at $30.63 (plus $0.50 CDL A) per hour depending on experience.
