GENERAL INFORMATION: Department: Public Works
Barg. Unit: Maine Service Employees Association (MSEA)
Status: Full-Time, 40 hours/week
Grade: 12 [$20.02 – $22.50/hour, based on experience]
Schedule: Monday-Friday, Days (8:00am-4:00pm)
SUMMARY: The Storekeeper/Dispatcher orders, receives, stores, and issues supplies; inputs data and maintains inventory control and financial records with a computerized control system. Operates a two-way radio, sends and receives messages, maintains the customer request system.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: An associate’s degree in business management- or related field- plus four (4) years related experience in storekeeping, recordkeeping and/or communications; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Desired candidates will be clear and effective communicators and have experience with processing invoices, computerized inventory control systems and modern office practices, and proper usage of equipment such as computers, machines, telephone and two-way radio. Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing.
WORK ACTIVITIES: Maintain computerized inventory control system among other records, enter and update inventory data with a high degree of accuracy. Order parts, supplies and materials to meet and maintain predetermined inventory levels. Track and/or performs maintenance of equipment, contact vendors regarding pricing, quality, availability and delivery of items purchased. Check and enter invoice data. Show familiarity with asset management systems, data entry and work order processing. Receive calls, answer questions/complaints and provide general information to the public, and maintain complaint information in a computerized database. Responsible for completion of excavation and other permits. Interpret and show working knowledge of material data sheets and the information they contain. May be required to operate a forklift or other mechanical assistance equipment. Participate in training of employees, as required. Must be available for overtime as needed and share an on-call rotation schedule. Perform other duties as assigned.
