The City of Keene is seeking a highly motivated and detailed-oriented professional to serve as our Revenue Collector. The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation and administration of the City’s Revenue Collection division which bills and collects property taxes, water and sewer utility charges, motor vehicle registration-related transactions, and collects miscellaneous receivables invoiced and receipt of department-based receivables. 

The Revenue Collector performs the statutory duties and responsibilities of the position of tax collector as provided by New Hampshire Statutes and serves as a municipal agent and is responsible for ensuring division reconciliation, reporting, and audit requirements are satisfied in a timely manner.  This position is also responsible for overseeing daily operations, including providing excellent customer service in-person, online and over the phone, so strong customer service skills are a must!  Specific job duties can be found in the job description below.

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in Finance or a related field; plus 5-7 years of related experience and/or training related to accounting/finance with experience in cash management, receipting, invoicing and reconciliation processes, and at least 2 years of experience in a supervisory role; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Knowledge of state and local laws and regulations is required.  This position requires a valid driver's license, and the candidate must be able to attain the Municipal Agent Certification within 4 months of hire as well as the New Hampshire Tax Collector’s Certification within 4 years of hire.

 

Salary and Benefits:

This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $73,198–$91,218 annually and will also receive an attractive benefits package which includes low deductible/low-cost health insurance, low-cost dental insurance, State of NH Group I retirement, and other benefits such as life insurance, disability, and paid time off.  Municipal employees may also qualify for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program.
