The Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments (AVCOG) is accepting applications for a Small Business Loan Officer. AVCOG is a quasi-municipal government organization serving communities and businesses in Androscoggin, Franklin, and Oxford Counties.

The Small Business Loan Officer is primarily responsible for developing loan applications, underwriting, and servicing loans to small businesses for our Federal, State, and local revolving loan fund programs. This position will also participate in reporting and marketing efforts.

Candidates are required to have the following:

  • Experience with commercial lending underwriting or credit analysis beyond consumer loans.
  • Knowledge of servicing a loan portfolio or similar work which provided a knowledge and understanding of the technicalities of financing and credit of loan programs.
  • Experience must demonstrate use of judgment in providing financial guidance to borrowers; ascertaining and analyzing borrower's financial capacity, and evaluating the general economic and financial conditions that affect the organization risk in issuing the loan
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in business administration, finance, or related field.

Candidates should have good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, attention to detail and accuracy, proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, and a demonstrated ability to work successfully as part of a team.

This full-time position offers a competitive starting salary ($75,000 - $85,000 per year, based on experience) and excellent benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurances; HSA with company contribution; HRA with deductible reimbursement; life and voluntary disability insurances; medical and dependent care flexible spending; Maine Public Employees Retirement System (MPERS); paid vacation and sick leave; 13 paid holidays; flexible schedule with 37 ½ hour workweek, and a hybrid remote work schedule.
