State disaster assistance is available for communities and businesses impacted by the winter storm events that pummeled the state earlier this year.  There are three different grant programs available, including:

  • Working Waterfront Resilience Grant.  Funding is available to repair and rebuild working waterfronts, including wharves and piers that provide a “significant and compelling community benefit to Maine’s commercial fishing and aquaculture industries.”  Deadline for submitting applications is June 10, 2024.
  • Business Recovery & Resilience Fund.  Funding is available for business and organizations, including nonprofits, affected by severe weather-related events.  Eligible projects must include efforts to increase business resiliency to future storms.  Deadline for submitting applications is June 25, 2024.
  • Maine Infrastructure Adaptation Fund.  Program provides one-time revenues to municipalities, tribal and infrastructure districts to adopt critical infrastructure to reduce vulnerability to climate change.   Deadline for submitting applications is July 1, 2024.
