SUMMER POLICE CADET

The City of Portland is currently accepting applications for Police Cadets for the 2025 summer season. Cadets work in teams as a support function for the Police Operations Division. From the end of May through October (hours may decrease after Labor Day), Cadets provide daily foot patrols in Downtown Portland's Old Port and Arts District business area. Start and end dates can be flexible based on needs. These highly visible teams will engage with the public in a number of different capacities. Candidates with bi-lingual capabilities are encouraged to apply. These positions will be non-sworn personnel and applicants must be at least 18 years old. A Police background check will be required (at no cost to the candidate).

 

This role is a great way to serve your community and support the residents, visitors, and businesses of downtown Portland. This is an excellent opportunity if you are interested in a career in Law Enforcement, Social Services, Healthcare, Education, or any career where you interact with the public. The Downtown Portland district is a vibrant, diverse community on the beautiful coast of Maine. This is a great summer job or paid internship opportunity. We can work with you to meet college credit requirements.

 

Expected Hours/Schedule:

Tuesday through Saturday, from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM.

Salary:$18.00 per hour.
