The Town of Wayne, Maine, is accepting applications for the full-time position of Town Manager. We are looking for a forward-thinking Town Manager who aspires to be the next leader in our community.

Wayne has a population of approximately 1200 permanent residents, with a significant additional seasonal population and has a municipal annual budget of approximately $1.9 M, excluding the Regional School budget commitment. Wayne follows the Town Meeting / Select Board / Town Manager style of Government with a five member Select Board.

Wayne seeks a candidate with strong municipal, financial and personnel management knowledge and experience.   Candidates must have prior experience in developing and managing a budget. The ability to collaborate with town officials, employees, and volunteers is required. The ideal candidate will be a graduate from an accredited four-year college or university program in public or business administration or a related field with experience in leadership positions in municipal government, or any equivalent combination of experience and training.  

Wayne is a vibrant town that is well known for our strong sense of community, beautiful lakes and ponds, and farms and forests. Centrally located between Augusta and Lewiston-Auburn and Bates, Bowdoin, and Colby Colleges as well as between the seacoast and mountains, this “Lakes of Maine” region offers many cultural and outdoor recreation opportunities for residents and year-round visitors.  The Cary Memorial Library and Williams House, Ladd Recreation Center, Wayne Elementary School, the Wayne Community Church, Androscoggin Yacht Club, and local businesses are within walking distance of the Village. A nursery school and day care, Aging at Home program and year-round cultural programs are supported by active municipal and community committees.  A popular summer Strawberry Festival, winter Holiday Stroll and a seasonal Farmers Market attract visitors to the community each year.
