          The Town of Bucksport is seeking a qualified candidate for an anticipated opening to provide assessing services for the Town of Bucksport. This is currently a full-time position in the community but individual and company assessing contractors as well as assessing professionals seeking a full-time position or a 3 day per week schedule are encouraged to apply.

          Bucksport is a community of approximately 5,000 people with a current valuation of $636,500,000, a mil rate of $13.25 per thousand, and approximately 3300 tax accounts. The most recent property revaluation was completed for the 2018/19 fiscal year, and cost schedules were updated in 2023. Bucksport has a significant amount of industrial and commercial property, including a former mill site that is now the home of a power generation facility, a permitted but not yet constructed land based aquaculture project, and a training facility owned by Maine Maritime Academy.

          Applicants should be qualified as a Certified Maine Assessor as well as have experience in a community with a wide cross section of property types. Experience utilizing TRIO software applications as well as computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred but not required. A valid Maine driver’s license is also required, as are excellent customer service skills.

          The Town of Bucksport administrative staff has a Monday-Thursday work week from 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. The town offers competitive wages, health insurance, group life insurance,  Maine State Retirement, income protection as well as vacation, sick time, and holiday pay.
