Are you interested in making a difference in your community? The Town of Freeport is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Response Specialist to join our team.
Working under the supervision of the Alternative Response Coordinator, the Community Response Specialist works collaboratively with the Town of Freeport Police Department and Town Administration to support community members through case management, crisis intervention, and outreach. In conjunction with the Alternative Response Coordinator, the Community Response Specialist assesses and coordinates care for individuals facing chronic and acute behavioral health, physical, mental, and social challenges. The role requires strong judgment, initiative, and flexibility, including periodic crisis response outside regular business hours based on community needs. This position also assists the Town’s General Assistance Program Administrator with interviews, applications, and client support. A complete job description can be found here.
This is a non-exempt position with work hours will be spread across 4-5 weekly shifts for a total of 40 hours and may include periodic emergency response outside of regular business hours.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience working in emergency response with individuals who experience medical, mental health, and quality of life issues.
- Graduation from high school or equivalent, required. An accredited degree in social science, behavioral/mental health, psychology, or a closely related field, preferred. Equivalent education, training, and work experience will be considered.
The Town offers a generous benefit package that includes medical, dental, short-term disability and life insurance, as well as retirement, vacation and sick leave. Hourly rate starts at $30.00, commensurate with skills and experience.
