The Town of Freeport is currently seeking applications for per-diem Firefighter/Paramedics. Advanced EMT’s who are currently enrolled in paramedic school are encouraged to apply. This is a skilled Firefighting and EMS position consisting of Paramedic responsibilities, both emergency and non-emergency, as well combating, extinguishing, and preventing fires. Work involves responding to a wide range of fire suppression and medical emergencies to ensure the stability and safety of our community. 

Per-diem employees are expected to schedule a minimum of four shifts per month. Typical shifts begin at 0700 hours and are 24 hours.

Position Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess and maintain a valid State of Maine Class C operator's license.
• Must have a current state of Maine EMS Paramedic license.
• Candidates with AEMT license, who intend to obtain a Paramedic qualification within a reasonable period are encouraged to apply.
• State of Maine Firefighter 1 certification (FF 1&2 preferred).
• Must be SCBA certified. 
• Must successfully complete a comprehensive background check and a post-offer physical exam.

The starting pay for this position is $28.25/hr and is commensurate with experience. Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled; interview selection will begin on April 21, 2025.
