The Town of New Gloucester, Maine is accepting applications for a full-time Code Enforcement and Zoning Officer. This is both technical and administrative work which is responsible for the uniform enforcement of all municipal codes, zoning ordinances and other applicable federal and state laws governed by this jurisdiction.  The Code Enforcement and Zoning Officer is expected to exercise independent judgment and initiative in accomplishing code enforcement objectives as well as maintaining departmental records and reports. This position requires considerable contact with the public in addition to maintaining a liaison with appropriate state and local agencies. Work is reviewed through reports, discussions and results achieved.   This person is the town’s authorized Building Inspector, Plumbing Inspector, Shoreland Zoning Officer, Land Use Regulator, E911 Addressing Officer and Local Health Officer. This position requires obtaining Land Use, Maine Uniform Building Code, Internal Plumbing, Subsurface Waste and Shore Land Zoning state certifications within twelve (12) months of hire.   A generous benefit package is available for this position.  Full job description is available on our website www.newgloucester.com.
