The Town of Ogunquit, “Beautiful Place by the Sea,” is seeking applicants for Lifeguards for the 2025 summer season. Relevant experience is preferred, but not necessary.Lifeguard/CPR/First Aid Certification is required prior to opening day. A free certification/recertification course will be available once hired. An ongoing and rigorous training program is conducted to ensure individuals become highly competent Ocean Rescue Lifeguards.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
• Age: Minimum age of 16 years
• Able to swim 550-yards (unassisted) in 10 minutes (or less) using front stroke only (USLA requirement)
• Run 1 (one) mile in 8 (eight) minutes or less
• Able to maintain fitness through the season
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various type of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.
• Looks out for accidents occurring in the water, and on the beach
• Makes rescues, administers first aid, and follows emergency procedures
• Maintains order on the beach and in the water, and anticipates any potential problems
• Participates in all training sessions, and skill tests as assigned
• Assists the public with information and other assistance, when possible
• Enforces and adheres to all rules and regulations of the beach and water
• Operates jet ski, when necessary, following training and endorsement by supervisor
• Responsible for maintaining equipment and storing in proper location after use
• Maintains regular, predictable, and reliable attendance
• Maintains excellent communication and fosters a collaborative working environment with all departments and with the public
Pay range: $18.50 - $23.00
