The Pownal Town Office is looking for a individual to fill the newly created position of part-time Deputy Clerk. Do you love working with people, small town life and office work? Do you possess excellent attention to detail, familiarity with databases and bookkeeping? Can you manage a cash drawer, bank deposits and be trusted with people’s stories? If you answered yes to all of these questions, you would probably flourish in a small municipal office.
The position of part-time Deputy Clerk will wear many hats. The part-time Deputy Clerk will also serve as Deputy Treasurer, Deputy Tax Collector and support the Town Administrator and Full-Time Deputy Clerk. Duties will include motor vehicle registrations, issuing vital records, collecting property taxes, issuing recreational vehicle licenses, hunting and fishing licenses, maintaining town records and election support. The ideal candidate will have strong computer and customer service skills. Prior municipal experience and experience with TRIO software is a plus, but not required. We are looking forward to finding the right person who is eager to learn, can thrive in this small office and support the residents of Pownal, Maine.
The position is a part-time position up to 27 hours per week. The Town offers a benefits package to include 75% paid health insurance for single or family plan and elective dental, vision short and long-term disability and life insurance plans through Maine Municipal Employees Health Trust.
