Freeport Sewer District is accepting applications for a Wastewater Treatment Operator to join our Operations team. This role provides hands-on experience in wastewater treatment, including maintenance, collections, and laboratory work.

This role offers a unique opportunity to gain experience across multiple aspects of wastewater treatment. No prior experience? No problem! We’re willing to train the right candidate.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Learn to monitor plant and field processes, including solids processing; monitor computer alarms, instruments, gauges, and meters for process control.
- Learn to keep operation logs and records, including meter and gauge readings.
- Learn to collect samples and perform routine biological and chemical test/analyses, record sampling and test results, and prepare samples for testing in the central laboratory as needed.
- Learn Collection system operations, involving pump station and pipeline operations, maintenance, and inspection.
- Performs general plant, building, and ground preventative maintenance throughout the facility.
WORK SCHEDULE:
- Weekdays - 7:00am to 3:30pm.
- Overtime can happen but is not a regular occurrence.
- After the probationary period you will be entered in the on-call rotation.
