City of Augusta-Truck Driver I - Non-CDL

*The City of Augusta has developed a new CDL course whereby qualified individuals can train, work and learn to obtain their CDL license (Class B) at no cost to the employee. 

Responsibilities

  • Works alone or as a member of a crew while doing maintenance or construction projects i.e. paving, street maintenance and winter snow removal operations.
  • May also work City rubbish/recycling collection or be assigned to the Hatch Hill Solid Waste Facility.
  • Assist with the repair and general maintenance of sidewalks, roads, crosswalk striping, sweeping, brush removal, weed whacking, catch basin cleaning and other general construction/maintenance work associated with Public Works projects.
  • Snow removal operations to include hand shoveling and sanding using associated equipment and tools.  Assisting with getting snow operations equipment prepared for work, i.e. mounting plows and sanders, cleaning equipment inside and out, working on tire chains.
  • Ability to operate motorized vehicles and skilled at performing vehicle inspections, watching gauges, dials and indicators to ensure vehicle is working properly.

Pay Scale

  • Full-time, non-exempt - union position.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including: medical insurance, a pension, and generous paid time off.

Pay range AFSCME B6: $19.10 to $23.54 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.

*Employee will have six (6) months to complete the course and obtain their Class B CDL.
