Paid Family Medical Leave Reminder & Request for Comments on Draft Rules

MMA Legal Services is reminding members that employer contributions under Maine's New Paid Family Medical Leave ("PFML") law will be required beginning January 1, 2025. See the Legal Update linked below for more information on PFML premium requirements.

In addition, the Maine Department of Labor has issued draft regulations to implement the PFML law. The Maine DOL is accepting comments on the draft rule until Friday July 8, 2024. A public hearing will be held on the draft rule on Monday June 10, 2024, at 9:00 a.m., at the Maine Department of Labor, Frances Perkins Room, 45 Commerce Drive, Augusta, Maine 04330. Municipal officials are encouraged to participate to express any concerns or suggestions they may have concerning the draft rules.
