An online informational session regarding the Grant Funding Application for the Public Safety Health and Wellness Grant enacted in Part T of the Supplemental Budget 2024-2025 will be held by the State Fire Marshal, Shawn Esler on March 11. 2025 at 11:00 a.m. via zoom at the following link: https://mainestate.zoom.us/j/87256680103?pwd=qsYMpKoXo50P8B8bMqBQzrePbNO5uv.1
Applications by a government entity can be made on behalf of multiple public safety agencies and offered to corrections, dispatch, law enforcement, EMS & fire personnel for any entity in a region or area. The funds may be used for screening programs and wellness education or check in programs that are not covered under current health insurance, or budgeted programs and identify specific health risks that face first responders. These include well known screening programs like those offered by Sigma Tactical Wellness, United Diagnostic Services, and culturally competent first responder wellness programs like BJA’s Valor Program.
The total funding amount of $2 million is expected that the requests will exceed the available funds, therefore it is likely not all applications will be awarded. Additionally, the delayed timeline has created a ridiculously short time frame for applications.
