Public Safety Health & Wellness Grant - Rapid Deadline

Public Safety Health & Wellness Grant - Rapid Deadline

Date Posted: Thursday, March 27, 2025
Posted In: Communications & Advocacy

For reasons that can only be described as a series of unfortunate events, the previous application and deadline posted for the originally posted call for  Public Safety Health and Wellness Grant application has been recalled and replaced with a new request.  The new process, deadlines and applications are available here.

A new public information meeting, to be conducted via Zoom, has been scheduled for Friday, March 28 at 11:00 a.m. and can be accessed here: https://mainestate.zoom.us/j/83915131382?pwd=8qFEBtKhmJTHVlvP73iQrPENdt5NFT.1

Applications by a government entity can be made on behalf of multiple public safety agencies and offered to corrections, dispatch, law enforcement, EMS & fire personnel for any entity in a region or area. The funds may be used for screening programs and wellness education or check in programs that are not covered under current health insurance, or budgeted programs and identify specific health risks that face first responders. These include well known screening programs like those offered by Sigma Tactical Wellness, United Diagnostic Services, and culturally competent first responder wellness programs like BJA’s Valor Program.

IMPORTANT
Applications must be submitted electronically to: [email protected] The new deadline for submitting questions is Monday, March 31, no later than 11:59 p.m. and the new grant submission deadline for all applications is Friday, April 11, 2025, by 11:59 p.m. Applications are to be directed to  [email protected] and care should be taken to make sure any applications in progress use the new RFA number.

While staff are cautiously optimistic any reference to the previous RFA number will be treated with respect, it is recommended that municipal officials make sure public safety staff that have an application in progress under the old process copy their material over into the new document. Doing so may prevent applicants from being rejected for a technical reason, should the procurement reviewer unwittingly add another chapter to this dark comedy.

All questions should be directed to the State Fire Marshal, Shawn Esler at [email protected] who will answer all questions received following the public information session. a
