CITY OF SOUTH PORTLAND
The City of South Portland is excited to recruit a Master Electrician to work throughout the city, in a variety of City and Water Resource Protection Department buildings (not including schools). This position is responsible for skilled work in the installation, maintenance, assessment and repair of all electrical and control components in City municipal buildings, wastewater treatment facilities, City traffic signals and other electrical equipment, to meet the needs of keeping the city’s electrical infrastructure operational and current to applicable codes. Will complete and coordinate routine and preventative maintenance, inspections, and electrical repairs. Will assist in the RFP process and specifications for major repairs, renovations and construction, and assist with selection and monitoring of contracted work. Will be the subject matter expert on electrical and wiring for City departments and for the Water Resource Protection department. Will also develop, monitor and implement electrical life-cycle replacement plans for City buildings and wastewater treatment facilities and utilize asset management software.
Experience with municipal buildings and systems is highly preferred. Must have familiarity or the ability to quickly learn building control systems such as security, fire, generators, ATSs, HVAC , and SCADA systems highly preferred. A successful candidate must have computer proficiency and be able to quickly learn computer software applications, including Asset Management software. Possession of a valid license as a Master Electrician as issued by the State of Maine is required. Two (2) years’ experience performing work as a Master Electrician highly preferred. Experience in a municipality and/or commercial settings and graduation from a 2 year degree program such as a trade school highly preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Computer proficiency required. Experience with Asset Management software preferred. Must possess and maintain a Valid Maine Class “C” driver’s license.
Starting pay range for this position is $52,457 - $63,876 annualized ($25.22 - $30.71 hourly), depending on qualifications.
