Patrol Officer - City of Rockland

Applications are being accepted to fill an open position and to establish an eligibility list for a Patrol Officer with the Rockland Police Department.

Applicant must be a high school graduate and possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.  Applicant must have satisfactorily passed the ALERT Test. Candidates will be required to successfully pass an in-depth background check; oral, psychological, and physical agility tests; and medical and polygraph examinations.

 Applicant Requirements:

The Applicant must be a high school graduate, possess a valid Maine driver's license or have the ability to obtain one within 30 days after employment, and not have a criminal record that would prevent them from obtaining certification from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy(MCJA).  

Candidates are required by MCJA to pass all phases of the Physical Agility Test (PAT), which is the standard physical agility test approved by MCJA.  The City will administer a PAT prior to interviews.  If the candidate has passed the MCJA-administered PAT within four months of the date of the City-administered PAT, then this requirement may be waived. 

When applying, the candidate shall submit a completed City of Rockland application, a current resumé, and include copies of the MCJA ALERT test, a Maine Law Enforcement Pre-Service Training Program (if completed) and the MCJA PAT (if applicable).  An application can be obtained by going to the City's website at www.rocklandmaine.gov

Salary:   $827.86 to $1055.68 per week based on qualifications to start. 

Benefits:  11 paid holidays plus one floating holiday. Vacation: 1 year = 2 weeks; 5 years = 3 weeks; and 10 years = 4 weeks. Sick leave accrues at 1 day per month. Health insurance is with Northern New England Benefit Trust. 20% of the monthly cost for the group is paid by employees.  There is Maine State Retirement, of which 8% is paid by the employee and the City contributes 8.3%. This is a collective bargaining position. Possible overtime.
