The Town of Farmingdale is seeking to fill the permanent full-time position of Deputy Town Clerk and Deputy Treasurer/Tax Collector.
Overview: This position is responsible for coordination of elections and voter registration in accordance with applicable laws of the State of Maine. Work involves processing customer transactions and recording of payments and fees as they relate to the office of the Town Clerk; the issuance of various licenses, vital records, and certificates. The employee will also assist in the full-service accounting tasks including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, internal auditing and controls, collection of real estate and personal property taxes; and vehicle excise tax and registrations and assisting with the annual operating and capital budget, the Town Report and Audit Preparation, using Trio Municipal software.
Requirements: This position requires strong interpersonal and customer service skills; organizational skills with close attention to detail; and attentiveness to following through with both daily tasks and with requests from the public; and the ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters of Town business.
Candidate should have a working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and the ability to handle cash. Previous experience in a municipal office is preferred but not required.
