Town of Kennebunk - Deputy Tax Collector

The Town of Kennebunk is accepting applications for a full-time Deputy Tax Collector position.  This vacancy is due to an employee promotion within the Finance Department. The Deputy Tax Collector provides office support to the Finance Department by processing financial transactions related to real estate, personal property and excise taxes; the registration of motor vehicles, trailers, boats, ATVs and snowmobiles; and the processing of beach permits and parking violations. The position provides superior customer service to the Kennebunk community. The Deputy Tax Collector is the back-up for payroll and accounts payable duties.

 

Position Requirements

Education and Experience: (A) High school graduate or equivalent, (B) A minimum of three (3) years of related municipal experience or clerical/office work of a progressive nature dealing with the public, (C) Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office required and experience in MUNIS, TRIO and time and attendance software highly desirable, or (D) Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: (A) Ability to communicate in an effective, clear, concise, and friendly manner, (B) Ability to solve problems and exercise good judgment, especially under pressure, (C) Knowledge of general accounting, bookkeeping, and clerical processes and procedures, (D) Aptitude for learning new software, and (E) Ability to be punctual and to contribute positively to the office team environment.

Pay Range and Employee Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00/hour based on demonstrated skills, knowledge, abilities and work experience. The Town of Kennebunk offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability (income protection), retirement, paid sick and vacation, and other supplemental benefits.
