Call Force Firefighter

The Town of Wells, with a seasonal population of approximately 40,000 is seeking Call Force Firefighter applicants for its Call Company.  “Call Firefighters” are compensated monthly on an hourly basis.  Experience is preferred but not required.  Training is provided by the Wells Fire Department.

Position requirements: Must reside within the Town of Wells or in a neighboring community, within three (3) miles of the Wells town line. Must be at least 18 years of age and must have a high school diploma or GED.  Must hold and maintain a valid Maine driver's license.

This is skilled firefighting and emergency medical work consisting of combating, extinguishing, and preventing fires. Duties include responding to a wide range of fire suppression and medical emergencies in a community encompassing 64 square miles.   The Wells Fire Department responds to approximately 1500 calls for service annually.  Work involves training for and participating in duties of protecting life and property through performing firefighting and rescue activities.
