Assistant Code Enforcement Officer

The Town of Yarmouth Planning and Development Department is seeking an individual to fill the full-time position of Assistant Code Enforcement Officer to include Local Plumbing & Fire Inspector duties. The position, under the direction of the Code Enforcement Officer and Fire Chief, will assist in the enforcement of municipal codes, building codes, state plumbing code, zoning ordinances and other applicable federal and state ordinances coming under this jurisdiction; and performing Life Safety inspections in accordance with State and local laws and ordinances, and other various tasks assigned by the Code Enforcement Officer and Fire Chief, as needed.

REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of two years of experience in code enforcement, building trades, fire inspection or other related fields; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge of municipal, state and national building and zoning codes, development review regulations and ordinances and related laws and ordinances is required. Ability to analyze and interpret construction plans and specifications; electrical, plumbing, and mechanical drawings; site plans; subdivision plans; aerial photographs and zoning and tax maps is also necessary. Must have a current Class C license, clean driving record and reliable vehicle.
