POLICE OFFICER VACANCY

Rumford Police Department

The Town of Rumford is accepting applications for a full time Police Officer position.  The candidate must be at least 21 years of age, have a high school diploma, valid driver’s license and be in good mental and physical condition.  Applicant must show proof of a passing grade on the Maine Criminal Justice Academy ALERT exam. Applicants must have completed a minimum of Phase I and II of the Maine Law Enforcement Pre-service Training Program or equivalence out of State.  All applicants will be required to pass a background investigation, medical exam, physical agility test, polygraph and psychological exam.  The Town of Rumford offers competitive wage ($19.05 - $22.05 depending on experience), Maine State Retirement, and Health and Dental insurance package.  Lateral Transfer incentives offered for individuals having completed the Maine Criminal Justice Academy Basic Law Enforcement Training Program.

The Rumford Police Department offers Maine Criminal Justice graduates the following sign on bonus.  Candidates that have completed and are certified Maine Law Enforcement Officers out of the academy will be offered:

With 2 yrs. experience - $2000

With 3yrs. experience - $3000

With 4 yrs. experience - $4000

With 5 yrs. experience - $5000

The first half paid upon completion of Field Training program.  The second half of the installment to be paid after completion of one year probationary period.
