Code Enforcement Office - Town of Chesterville

The Town of Chesterville is accepting applications to fill a part-time Code Enforcement Officer position.

The position is responsible for answering questions from the public regarding Town ordinances, documenting and investigating complaints pertaining to code violations, ensuring compliance with the Town’s shoreland zoning and regular land use ordinances, relevant codes and statutes and reviewing permit applications/notifications. 

The position requires an individual certified by the State of Maine or the ability to obtain all certifications within 12 months of their appointment. Preference may be given to individuals with current or previous certifications and/or experience in either building trades or municipal government. The position requires knowledge of the Maine State Plumbing Code, the MUBEC, the State of Maine Shoreland Zoning and the Town of Chesterville’s ordinances. 

The Code Enforcement Officer provides administrative support to the Planning Board and Board of Appeals and maintains records for both boards. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Board of Selectmen. This position would have flexible hours and be salary based. 

Ideally this person would also serve as a Deputy Licensed Plumbing Inspector and Health Officer.
