Mechanic Position

The City of Auburn is seeking to fill a full-time position for a Mechanic. Candidate must have experience in the preventive maintenance and repair of cars, pick-up trucks, heavy-duty trucks and equipment such as loaders and excavators. Duties include inspecting and repairing cars, trucks and construction equipment; overseeing preventive maintenance tasks with working knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brake systems, and gas and diesel motors; and other duties as required. Successful candidate must be extremely dependable, must meet the physical demands of the job, and must be able to work in all weather conditions. This Mechanic will be used to supplement snow removal crews. Shift work and overtime including nights, weekends, and holidays are required.

Must have a high school diploma or GED, a good driving record, a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), and a State Inspection License Class A, D, and T issued by the State of Maine (or able to obtain within the 6-month probationary period); as well as a certification in mechanics and documented history of experience and training in this field. Starting rate is $17.28 per hour. The City of Auburn provides a competitive fringe benefit package.
