Status: Full-Time (37.5 hours/week; M-F 8:00am – 4:30pm)
Grade: 12 [$16.35 - $21.95/hour]
SUMMARY: The Customer Service Specialist will serve primarily as a counter person for the Finance Department, performing clerical activities, collection of funds, and other related functions as required to achieve the highest level of customer service to taxpayers, patrons and other interested parties.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Two (2) to three (3) years of progressively fast-paced responsibilities; clerical experience with cash handling, assessing, tax and/or utility billing experience helpful. Municipal Treasury experience and/or certifications preferred.
WORK ACTIVITIES: Calculates excise tax for motor vehicles and processes registration as part of the State Motor Vehicle Agent Program. Processes registration for all off-road vehicles, prepares daily and monthly reports associated with the registration programs. Maintains supply inventory of license plates, stickers and all required forms associated with these programs. Collects, enters and processes real estate and personal property tax payments over the counter or by mail, prepares and processes all required forms for certified mailing of 30-day tax lien and foreclosure notices. Processes, deposits and records parking funds collected daily and monthly from all City parking garages on a daily basis. Issues landfill recycling passes upon request, answers incoming calls with questions regarding taxes, registration, utility bills and other related issues. Performs other duties as requested or assigned.
