Police Chief - Town of Piermont, New Hampshire

Town of Piermont, NH (pop 790) seeks an experienced candidate to lead the police department.

The Chief of Police is the Chief Administrative Officer of the Department and the final departmental authority in all matters of policy, operations, and discipline. They exercise all lawful powers of the office and issues such lawful orders as are necessary to assure the effective performance of the Department. The Chief reports to the Board of Selectmen. The Chief will be required to conduct patrol functions on a daily basis.

The Chief of Police is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, controlling, and staffing all activities of the Department. They will also be responsible for its continued and efficient operation, and the Department’s relations with local citizens, local government, and other agencies.

The Chief is responsible for the training of all members of the Department. The Chief shall have general charge of the station house and all property of the Police Department.

The Chief is responsible for the preparation, presentation and justification of the annual departmental operating budget, the six-year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), and for the control of all departmental expenditures. It is also expected that the Chief be active in community volunteer efforts.

The Chief is responsible for maintaining contact with the public, developing, and nurturing a community-policing program between the town and the Department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in law enforcement. Possess a New Hampshire Motor Vehicles Operator License or able to obtain one once a resident. Pass an extensive background check, polygraph test and psychological testing. Certification as a Full Time Officer by the New Hampshire Police Standards and Training Council is desired. If not currently certified by NH Police Standards and Training must be able to complete certification within 6 months.

Piermont resident, or a maximum distance of 20 miles from Piermont Village.

This is a full-time salaried and benefited position. Position open until filled.
